Dear Friends
     Science and technology has always steered the development of every civilization. Same is true for our civilization which could not have survived the perils of nature without the developments of indigenous science and technology. With time; our perception has changed and has become more accommodative and accepting; with the rise and importance of economic aspects of S&T and its key role in the growth of our nation. The world is going through the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This will trigger widespread influence on human society as did the past industrial revolutions and bring about disruptive transformations. Our industry is undergoing a phase of transition where search for alternate clean source of energy having minimum carbon footprint and environmental impacts is being emphasized. The definition of “Growth” is no more limited to coal production only but it now rightly includes all-round development of our employees, improvement of quality of life of people affected by our activities and the overall growth of our nation as a whole. This transitional period is a golden opportunity for us to shape the identity and image of our company from being a mining giant to a technological giant. The growth of our company must be accompanied with due consideration of environmental and societal impact and there should always be a scope and intent to improve and improvise that will positively affect the common lives of our countrymen. Therefore, I invite everyone to join hands and come forward with ideas to Innovation Cell as the platform through which we can change the course of history beginning with our company towards the goal of an organization which is one of the most advanced not only in terms of coal production but also in terms of technological advancement.

Finally, I would like to conclude with a verse from Rig Veda which shall also be the motto of this cell:

आ नो भद्राः क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वतः
“Let Noble Thoughts Come to Us from All Over the Universe”
