Introduction

Systems Department of MCL started in 1992 with two mini computers at IB Valley and Jagannath Area to cater to batch processing of jobs like salary preparation, cash accounting, Stores inventory accounting, preparation of sales bills etc.
Today Systems Department of MCL has grown manifolds and it provides secure, reliable and latest information technology solutions in various functional areas of the Company in alignment with Company’s objective.

Activities
    • Creation of IT Infrastructures and providing necessary computing facilities (hardware & software) to users
    • Securing the IT Infrastructure through Cyber Security teams
    • Implementation of ERP across the Organization
    • Implementation of Hospital Management System at Central Hospital of IB Valley
    • Imparting Training to users on Software and latest technologies
    • Development of web-based applications and Mobile Apps
    • Procurement / Acquiring latest technology hardware and software (Centralized items)
    • Procurement of computer consumables and other decentralized items
    • Looking for new areas of computerization in order to increase transparency and efficiency in office work, and also to improve image of the company
    • Conclusion of AMC Contracts with various service providers for maintenance of hardware and software
    • Coordination with Service Engineers for attending breakdown / maintenance of hardware
    • Coordination with Areas, providing necessary technical support
    • Providing Web and Email Services. Developement, hosting and maintenance of corporate website and Intranet portal
    • Monthly Salary Processing of HQ and All Areas, processing PRP / Income Tax Calculation / generation of CMPF Statements etc.
    • Providing necessary services for e-Office platform

    • CIL Innovation Award on CIL Foundation Day in 2010
    • Vigilance Award for implementing GPS based Surveillance Systems to curb pilferage, and improve efficiency in internal transportation of Coal, loading activities at Sidings - 2014
    • Vigilance Award for implementing centralized of MMS module for controlling inventory and procurement, 100% Codification of Items as per CIL Standard - 2014
    • Vigilance Award for implementing File Tracking Module for Speedy Movement of Important files and Early disposal – 2015
    • Secured 1st place in MCL under Innovation category for implementing E-Capex module in coalnet on the occasion of National Productivity Week 2018.

ERP Implementation

  • All modules of ERP were made live from 1st April’2022 onwards
  • Rail Sale billing also started in ERP from June’21 onwards
  • Payroll through ERP was implemented smoothly without any IR related issues
  • All Quarterly Closing of Accounts of FY 2021-22 done through ERP
  • 3MS Portal was integrated with SAP for seamless flow of road sale data between i3MS portal and ERP

Hospital Information Management System (HIMS)

  • All hardware, software and LAN items were procured well in time
  • HIMS was made live in the Central Hospital of IB Valley in the FY 2021-22
  • HIMS is running full-fledged for :
    1. Registration Desk
    2. OPD
    3. Pharmacy
    4. Pathology / X-Ray / ECG
    5. IME / PMEMedicine Store
    6. Physiotherapy
    7. Dressing Room
    8. Injection Room etc.

Web / Mail / Portal Services

  • Corporate website developed, hosted and maintained by the in-house team
  • MCL’s Email services hosted by the in-house team, was extended to CIL and all Subsidiaries of CIL for integration with SAP
  • The web & mail server received security compliance certification from STQC of Govt. of India
  • Tender hosting portal developed and hosted for tender below 2 lakhs in line with CIL’s e-procurement portal for maintaining transparency. Total 6193 tenders floated till date

Cyber Security

  • Cyber Crisis team formed to deal with any cyber threats
  • Security Audit of IT Infrastructures of MCL completed successfully
  • Honeypots installation action initiated to detect and deflect cyber attacks as part of Nationwide Deployment of Honeypot Devices by CERT-In, Govt. of India
  • Extensive training on cyber threats and cyber security imparted to all including Cyber Crisis Team members
