Management Training Institute (MTI) was started in the year 1998. MTI focuses on the Learning
and Development requirements of the employees of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL). MTI
is situated in Anand Vihar, Sambalpur 3 Kms from MCL headquarter. L&D activities of MCL
are focused on the present and the future business requirements of the MCL. The activities of
MCL are designed and managed with the intent to ( for effective utilization of) utilize the human
capital potential across the organization, develop leadership at all levels, and build the critical
organizational capabilities desirable to deliver on business strategy. Employees of the
organization are exposed to an extensive series of L&D opportunities based on their business
needs and individual potential. There are various training programmes such as Technical,
Managerial, Supervisory and Functional provided to the employees on regular interval. MTI
encourages the employees of MCL to share their expertise to their fellow employees by being the
faculty trainer. MTI invites/attracts eminent trainers from universities, professional bodies and
consultancy to train the employees. MTI is equipped with latest teaching equipments to provide
online as well as offline training programs. MTI promotes continuous learning environment
across the organization. |

4 | MCL has achieved highest ever grade conformity during 21-22. |
5 | MCL is well equipped with 9 NABL Accredited Coal Analysis Laboratories for its internal analysis of coal samples. |
6 | Online Coal Ash, Moisture and GCV Analyzer, first of its kind in MCL, has been installed at Lingaraj Silo. |
7 | Reduction in number of consumer complaints from 44 nos in 20-21 to 6 nos in 21-22. |
8 | Significant reduction in incidences of oversize cases at Paradip port as compared to last year. (20-21: 8%, 21-22- 3.5% & 22-23 till date: 2%) |
9 | ERP implementation to capture the coal sampling data (i.e., MCL lab results, Third Party sampling and referee results) and initiation of credit/debit note/s accordingly. |
10 | More number of consumers including those under E-auction option were brought under third party sampling regime. |
11 | Weighted Average Grade of Coal being dispatched to Consumers is at par with weighted average declared grade of coal. |

MTI encourages its employees to share their expertise with their employees in the form of
trainers and also invites experts from Universities, Professional bodies, Consultancy etc., to
provide the training for the employees of MCL. |
